Four Concepts To Strengthen Marriage
Tyranny and oppression mark world history like a plague. Terror, violence, and social abuses are almost commonplace. A lone gunman kills a dozen and wounds over forty unsuspecting people in the name of religion. Hate crimes threaten everyone. Prejudice, discrimination, and reverse discrimination affect us all.

The cause of freedom and justice continues across America and the world. Perhaps that battle is even more obvious in our homes. The very nature of marriage and family life are threatened by the thirst for equality and domination. Political and social forces reach into every part of our lives. Some of this may be good, but some also disrupts the operational relationships of the family.
Traditional roles of husband and wife face challenges of understanding and social pressures. These nuances expose injustices and abuses, however, they have also created undercurrents of mistrust and conflict.
The Bible teaches a set of dynamic principles to guide husbands and wives in their roles. These have sometimes been distorted or misapplied, however, when properly understood these principles go a long way toward enabling life-long marriages.
First Principle : Marriages thrive on mutuality. Whether you come from a Biblical perspective or just want a great marriage, this concept works. When husband and wife mutually give themselves to each other, both thrive. When husband and wife plan, work, and cooperate together, everyone wins.
Principle B: Marriages flourish when led by husbands of integrity, industry, and sensitivity. Good leadership lifts the whole family. The husband needs to project a vision of family mission and set the pace toward achieving that dream. With compassion and a listening ear, the husband willingly sacrifices his own welfare for the benefit of his marriage and family and their mutual mission.
Protection of the family is inherent In the husband's leadership. It is his duty to protect his wife from all manner of threats. Out of love, the husband places himself between his wife and any threat that might injure his wife. For this reason, a husband will guard against dangerous situations and dangerous people.
Rule C: Providing for the needs of his family is the duty of the husband. With hard works and self sacrifice, the husband is expected to supply the needs of his family. A dedicated wife will assist her husband and encourage him in his effort to meet this responsibility.
Fourth Rule : A wife honors and respects her husband assisting and supporting her husband. She willingly gives herself to her husband to meet his needs and give her family perpetual blessing. At her husband's side, she stands. She works. She helps him become everything he is capable of becoming. She encourages and lifts up her husband as he strives to provide for her and his family.
In a sense, woman must submit herself to her husband, but notice the word "sub..mit" actually involves giving oneself into the mission of the family. This is not a matter of wills. When the family battles over control, everyone loses.
When a man dominates or dictates to his wife, he fails as the leader of his home. It is essential that a man listen to his wife. It is vital that he be willing to sacrifice his pride, his self interest, even his own welfare to meet the needs of his wife.
Who benefits when husbands diligently practice these core principles of marriage? The husband, the wife, the family, and everyone they touch is blessed by their love.
When a wife stands by her man and yields herself to the needs and mission of the family, the whole family is blessed.
